Local members of Girl Scout Troop 218 recently received their Girl Scout Bronze Award at a ceremony held in Cameron Park.

Jaime Block (Cameron Park), Brianna Campbell (Cameron Park), Caitlin Delaney (Rescue), Kylee Hunter (Cameron Park), Emma Lohmann (Cameron Park), Alyssa Oaks (El Dorado Hills), Elena Oaks (El Dorado Hills), Camy Wilson (Cameron Park), and Kaylee Wilson (Cameron Park) earned the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can earn by creating a community service project that involved signing and delivering holiday cards to residents in assisted living facilities throughout the Sacramento valley. The girls worked on the project throughout the year, and delivered more than 4,800 cards during the past three holiday seasons.

In addition to their Bronze Award project, other events the girls participated in included making blankets with senior citizens and donating them to children in the foster care system, making a donation to the Folsom Zoo and making a donation to a local family in need.

While receiving their Bronze Award all troop members also “bridged” to the next level of Girl Scouts, and will now become Girl Scout Cadettes.

As Cadettes, the troop will now work towards the Girl Scout Silver Award which should take another three years to complete.
