Go for a run and ‘Make the Grade’

Calling all runners, walkers and families who want to help local schools: Registration is now open for third annual Making the Grade Run for Education on Sunday, Sept. 22.

This fun and festive family event at the El Dorado Hills Golf Course (bottom of Serrano Parkway in El Dorado Hills) will offer something for everyone – 10K and 5K trail run/walks, professionally timed by Capital Road Race Management, as well as two fun runs designed for kids 12 years and younger. Last year’s event drew race participants from throughout the greater Sacramento region. Again this year, following the races, a huge Buckeye Family Fun Festival featuring food vendors, bounce houses, music and kids’ games will be held.

Participants can register online at BuckeyeFoundation.org.  All children ages 12 and younger participating in the mile and half-mile fun runs will collect a medal for participation.  The school boasting the most number of race participants will be awarded the “You Made the Grade” event banner to display on campus.

All proceeds benefit the Buckeye Education Foundation, a private non-profit which has worked the past four years to successfully restore important district-wide library and P.E. programs cut due to a lack of funding and implement cutting-edge technology into district classrooms.

Formed in 2009, the Buckeye Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) collaboration of parents, educators and community leaders committed to providing supplemental funding to the five elementary schools and two middle schools within the Buckeye Union School District.  For more information, and to make a donation, visit buckeyefoundation.org.
