Keep your pooch away from rattlesnakes

The Hangtown Kennel Club of Placerville is sponsoring its final Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic for this year on June 29-30 with a registration deadline of June 22. The clinic will take place in the Placerville area.

Rattlesnakes are common in El Dorado County, and reports of sightings and bites are up this year. Treatment is extremely costly and their bite (if left untreated) is often fatal to dogs. Since rattlesnakes have a unique smell, a distinct look, and a very distinguishable sound, training a dog to recognize it in each of these senses gives the dog triple protection in learning to stay far away from the snake!

For more information on available openings, call Cathy Keeler at (530) 622-6909 between 6 and 10 p.m. or visit the Hangtown Kennel Club website at hangtownkc.org,
