Kennel club offers puppy classes

Beginning Thursday, April 10, the Hangtown Kennel Club of Placerville is offering their first six-week training session for 2014 in both obedience and conformation at the El Dorado Fairgrounds in Placerville.

For those preparing a dog for the breed ring, the conformation class focuses on the finer points of handling your dog in AKC shows. The obedience classes include puppy kindergarten, beginner novice, beginning/intermediate, novice (in preparation for your dogʼs Companion Dog title), and the very popular Rally class.

Classes are held every Thursday at 7 p.m. For the April 10 class only, dog owners are asked to arrive by 6:30 p.m. for the registration process and the fitting of collars and leashes.

Pre-registration is required for all obedience classes. Puppy and beginning obedience is $90 and includes a leash and collar. All other obedience classes are $75 for the six-week session.

Conformation classes are offered on a “drop in” basis, at $5 per class. Proof of all age-appropriate vaccinations is required at the first class.

For more information visit the Hangtown Kennel Club website at hangtownkc.org or call Cathy Keeler to enroll at (530) 622-6909.
