Man accused of raping 14-year-old
A Placerville man was arrested last week after authorities said he sexually assaulted a Shingle Springs girl.
Brett Michael Davis, 20, was targeted by El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies Jan. 4 after the 14-year-old victim was reported missing.
Sheriff’s Lt. Bryan Golmitz described the victim and Davis as “acquaintances” and said the two were found together in a Cameron Park mobile home park.
Davis was booked on suspicion of a number of sexual assault-related charges, including rape and oral copulation with a person under 18.
He remains in custody on $1.3 million bail — $300,000 for the sexual assault allegations and a $1 million enhancement for a previous “serious crime.”
Golmitz said he could not reveal the nature of Davis’ criminal history but said the Sheriff’s Department has had prior contact with him.
Davis is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning. A public defender has not yet been listed for him.
