Mercy Hospital’s Auxiliary gathered at Serrano Country club on Friday, March 18, to award $1,200 scholarships to 11 applicants planning careers in health care. The gala awards luncheon included overviews of the recipients’ accomplishments, flowers for each and brief acceptance speeches.

Most of the winners of this year’s scholarships hailed from local high schools: Oak Ridge, Folsom and Vista del Lago. Two recipients are current Mercy employees.

Most of the scholarship money was raised in the hospital gift shop, operated by the auxiliary. No hospital funds are used for the awards. Over the last nine years the auxiliary has given out over $100,000 in scholarships.

Pictured in the back row standing left to right are Yasin Nabavi, Oak Ridge; Rohit Talreja, Folsom; Regina Marino, Folsom; Linda Gu, Vista; and Danielle Zezoff, Folsom.

Kneeling in front are Jessica Pegadiotes, Oak Ridge; Navneet Kahlon, Oak Ridge; Marisa Franz, Folsom; and Kelly Douglas, Oak Ridge.

Mercy Hospital employees Michele Jones and Tracy Matthews also won scholarships, but are not pictured.
