‘Mrs. G’ crowned Teacher of the Year
Oak Ridge High School Assistant Principal Pam Bartlett couldn’t say enough about the Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills’ Teacher of the Year.
Debbie Giannotti, aka “Mrs. G,” has boundless energy and enthusiasm for her students and encourages lifelong learning, Bartlett told the crowd at Wednesday’s breakfast meeting.
“She changes the lives of her students,” Bartlett said. “She empowers them to work harder than they ever have.
“We all look to Debbie as a model of what an educator looks like,” she added. “She is truly a remarkable educator.”
Giannotti is a specialized education teacher who has worked at Oak Ridge for six years.
Graduating senior Kevin White said his time in Mrs. G’s classroom has inspired him to become a teacher. Giannotti goes the extra mile for her students, using a kind but firm, when necessary, approach to help her students reach their full potential, he said.
Giannotti thanked the Rotary Club and her colleagues when presented with her award, saying she couldn’t do her job without the wonderful support she gets from Oak Ridge’s administration. “And I love my students,” she said.
