People Talk: Are you concerned about fire in your community?

Lois Deatherage, Cameron Park: "There's a concern. I think as a community, if we keep our yards tended and weeds down with lots of green, it helps to keep our homes safe and protected."

Cheryl Adler, El Dorado Hills: "I live in Lakehills and my husband and I were part of a firestorm. I want the community to know that when there is a serious fire, don't come look at it. Too many people get stuck in the midddle of the road. Residents can't get in to get their pets, or get out."

Leona Sunseri, El Dorado Hills: "Yes I am, I make sure I get rid of my weeds and I'm observant when driving through my neighborhood. Usually there's a smolder, so if there's anything suspicious, I call. I love our fire department."

Angela Pannier, El Dorado Hills: "Yeah, it's dry; it's scary. There's certain things we'd want to grab, like birth certificates. It's scary."

Jaci Sowell, Garden Valley: "It's a big concern, but we do what we can do. Keep the weeds away from the house. We've been lucky."
