People talk: How confident are you that the president and Congress will pass an effective jobs plan?

Cheryl Platz, Folsom: "I think they have to stop arguing and figure out how they're going to work together. The arguing is what stops progress."

Joe Harn, Cameron Park: "My confidence is close to zero. The president will want to throw money at the problem. What the federal government should do is eliminate most of the hundreds of thousands of pages of federal regulations that make it more expensive for employers to hire people. If federal government doesn't reduce the regulatory burden on employers, America is going to keep shipping jobs to the Far East."

Anne Martin, Placerville: "Not confident because of Congress' and the president's track record over the past few years."

Harvey Goldberg, Carmichael: "Do you have anything less than zero?"

Bill Brocknow, El Dorado Hills: "I'm not very confident because none of them have the country's benefit as their agenda. They're in it for re-election."
