Clair LaBeaux, El Dorado Hills: “There’s lots of other things to cut besides schools. I’m on the Lakeview (Elementary School) site council and we’re just scraping by as it is. And there’s no such thing as a temporary tax increase, so probably no.”
Pam Walton, Shingle Springs: “No. I’d like to see something done about the (state workers) unions first — wages, benefits that sort of thing. They’re way too powerful.”
Chris Goodwin, Cameron Park: “We’re already in a recession. Raising taxes will just make it worse. And why schools? That’s our next generation. Start somewhere else.”
Rod Sutton, Pilot Hill: “Absolutely not. He hasn’t cut spending. Jerry, you cut some spending and then talk to me about raising my taxes. We spend more than we take in. That ought to be illegal.”
Kary Rush, Folsom: “I’m an ex-Democrat. I left the party in the mid 1970s when Jerry Brown was governor. He let those unions get the hold they have now. This entire system, where the unions contribute so much money to elections, is a monumental failure.”
