PONDEROSA HIGH SCHOOL teacher Linda Griffiths-Gish stands inside the school's memorial honoring students who died serving their country. Right now the memorial only has one plaque — dedicated to Mathew Taylor, who died in 2007. The military mom — her son Joshua Griffiths, an Army sergeant, will be going back to the Middle East next year — said she doesn't want to see any more plaques.
