Ribstock returns

The 2011 Ribstock BBQ Festival bring world-class barbecue into town on Saturday, Sept. 17, as championship barbecue teams from throughout California descend on Cameron Park Lake for prizes, cash and fame.

“We want to encourage folks to come out to Ribstock and bring their friends,” said Bob Davis, event organizer. “It will be one of our community’s tastiest and fun events, providing delicious food, music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and the return of the very popular kids carnival. There is fun for the entire family.”

This years musical line up includes: AKALive (Top 40), East Bound 50 (Classic Rock), and headlining Ribstock 2011 is nationally acclaimed tribute band Nuthin’ Fancy — A Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd. The band meticulously replicates the stage performance of Lynryd Skynyrd, mastering every detail from the original band’s clothing to its ripping piano and guitar solos.

“They sound so much like the real Skynyrd” commented one observer, “that I have to keep reminding myself they’re not the real thing.”

Ribstock is sanctioned by Kansas City Barbeque Society. KCBS is the world’s largest organization of barbecue and grilling enthusiasts with more than 10,000 members worldwide. KCBS sanctions almost 300 barbecue contests coast-to-coast throughout America, where competitions for barbecued chicken, ribs, pork and brisket are served up and judged by Certified Barbeque Judges.

Ribstock is sponsored in part by El Dorado Disposal, Wells Fargo Bank, Marshall Medical, NorCal Buick GMC, Autotronics, ElDoradoGuide.com and MillerCoors.
