RV, horse trailer and grass burn on Salmon Falls
Firefighters spent more than five hours dousing a blaze off Salmon Falls Road Thursday after a motor home pulling a horse trailer apparently drove too close to the dry brush and sparked a fire.
“The trailer was fully involved when (firefighters) arrived,” said Teri Mizuhara with Cal Fire, the agency that took the lead during the incident. The El Dorado Hills Fire Department and El Dorado County Fire also responded.
No injuries were reported, Mizuhahra said, and the horse trailer was empty.
The vehicle was destroyed, the trailer was severely damaged and 9.5 acres of wildland burned near the intersection of Salmon Falls Road and Gallagher Road, according to EDH Fire Marshal Brad Ballenger. El Dorado Hills Fire responded with an engine and a medic when the call came in at 3:10 p.m.
Firefighter cut fire lines in the brush to contain the flames. Salmon Falls Road was closed in both directions for several hours while crews got a handle on the fire.
