School boards, special districts looking for qualified candidates
More than 90 positions will be available on various local city councils, school and community college boards, parks, fire, conservation, recreation and utility districts in El Dorado County this November.
Candidate filing for these positions will open July 16 and close Aug. 10. Citizens interested in serving and who are registered voters are qualified to run for local office.
Declaration of candidacy papers are available beginning Monday, July 16, at city clerks’ offices for city positions and in the El Dorado County Elections Department for all other offices. A list of offices scheduled for election and a Candidate’s Handbook is available on the Elections Department website at edcgov.us/elections.
The city offices up for election are:
City of Placerville: Two City Councilmember seats and City Treasurer
City of South Lake Tahoe: Two City Councilmember seats
The school board offices up for election are:
El Dorado County Board of Education: Trustee Areas 3 and 5
Placer County Office of Education: Trustee Area 4
Los Rios Community College District: Trustee Area 3
Sierra Joint Community College District: Trustee Areas 3, 4 and 7
El Dorado Union High School District: Two seats
Black Oak Mine Unified School District: Trustee Areas 1 and 2
Tahoe Truckee Unified School District: Trustee Areas 2 and 3
Buckeye Union School District: Two seats
Camino Union School District: Three seats
Gold Trail Union School District: Two seats
Indian Diggings School District: One seat
Latrobe School District: One seat
Mother Lode Union School District: Four seats
Pollock Pines School District: Two seats
Rescue Union School District: Two seats
Silver Fork School District: One seat

Diamond Springs/El Dorado Fire Protection District: Three seats
El Dorado County Fire Protection District: Divisions 1, 2, 4 and 5
El Dorado Hills County Water District: Two seats
Garden Valley Fire Protection District: Three seats

Lake Valley Fire Protection District: Three seats
Mosquito Fire Protection District: Three seats
Pioneer Fire Protection District: Two seats
El Dorado Resource Conservation District: Three seats
Georgetown Divide Resource Conservation District: Three seats
Georgetown Divide Recreation District: Areas 1, 3 and 5
Georgetown Divide Public Utility District: Seats 4 and 5
