Senior Nutrition Program needs drivers

The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program Home-Delivered Meal Service currently has a critical need for volunteer drivers. Volunteers are especially needed to help deliver meals in the Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills and Placerville areas. Senior Nutrition Program volunteer drivers deliver meals once a week from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, and also check on the well-being of program participants.

“For many homebound seniors, the daily personal contact with the volunteer driver is as vital as the meal,” said Ruth Green, program coordinator for the Home-Delivered Meal Service. “We are looking for caring, dedicated people who are willing to reach out to their neighbors through this important program.”

Volunteers not available for a weekly commitment can serve as back-up drivers who fill in as needed.

The Senior Nutrition Program is a service of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency. To volunteer, or for more information about the Senior Nutrition Program, call (530) 621-6160.
