Want to do something to celebrate/honor someone you know who has been touched by breast cancer?

Lace up and head to Snap Fitness in El Dorado Hills, where owner Cynthia Breazeale recently installed a PINK 625T Cybex treadmill. For every mile logged on the treadmill in October — Breast Cancer Awareness Month — Cybex, Snap Fitness and community partners will donate money to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

“One of the very first members to join Snap Fitness (a male) passed away from breast cancer,” said Gina Bartok, Snap’s assistant manager. “It hit us at home and we realized we can do something good.”

For the Take the Steps to End Breast Cancer event, Snap Fitness welcomes everyone to the gym, members and non-members, at 2222 Francisco Drive, Suite 290, to walk, jog or run on the treadmill. The gym’s staffed hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

The goal is to log 3,000 miles on the treadmill in October, which would raise $3,000.

“Everyone wins,” Breazeale explained. “We are thrilled to make a positive contribution to our community while raising funds to serve a global cause. We hope our efforts will help to further awareness of this deadly condition and the number of lives that have been affected.”

Community sponsors for Snap Fitness’ events include Marshall Medical Center, Raley’s, Stanford Mortgage, Rockin’ Frog Yogurt & More, Go Girl, GNC, Murray Chiropractic and One 2 One Dental.

In addition to the Take the Steps to End Breast Cancer monthlong event, Snap Fitness staff members have scheduled upcoming fundraisers, open to members and non-members.
