Driver dies in solo wreck

A solo vehicle accident left a 22-year-old dead in El Dorado Hills early Friday morning.

Ashley Culver of Shingle Springs was driving a 1997 Pontiac heading eastbound on Highway 50 at the Bass Lake Road at 2:05 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway, said CHP Officer Frank Rodriquez. The car launched into the air and traveled about 65 feet before slamming into the southeast shoulder edge of the Bass Lake Road under-crossing and bursting into flames.

The victim, who had been wearing a seatbelt, died as a result of the fire, according to the CHP.
