Oak Meadow Elementary and Marina Village Middle School dominated the competition at last Friday’s 33rd annual El Dorado County Spelling Bee in Pollock Pines.  Students representing 25 schools from as far as Lake Tahoe competed in each of four divisions.

Oak Meadow students placed first in the Division 1 competition of first- and second-grade teams. Oak Meadow also placed second in Division 2, which was made up of third and fourth graders. One point separated them from first place, which went to Lake Tahoe Elementary.

Marina Village students took home the top award for the fifth- and sixth-grade Division 3, even after words like p-a-u-n-c-h and h-a-r-a-s-s knocked out many of their competitors. Marina Village also placed first in Division 4.
