Madison Steel received the honor of Student of the Month at the Nov. 7 Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills meeting.

The 10-year-old always has a “happy, positive outlook on life,” boasted fifth-grade teacher Vicki Nelson.

“She has a quiet competence,” she continued, explaining that Madision does not boast or have a “showy” personality. She helps other students when asked and is always on the right page, Nelson added.

In addition to her teacher, Madison was joined at breakfast by her parents Jake and Jennifer Steel, 7 year-old brother John, grandmother Ginger Steel and Rescue Union School District Human Resources Director Darrien Johnson.

Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills President Wayne Lowery gave Madison a plaque and a check for her efforts inside and outside of the classroom.
