Time to sponsor a candidate for El Dorado Rose

For more than 30 years, El Dorado County has received not only local, but state and national recognition for the unusual and unique contest for mature women, the El Dorado Rose pageant. The woman chosen to be the Rose has the honor to represent the county at a variety of affairs during her year as Rose.

The El Dorado Rose organization would like to invite clubs, groups, businesses or individuals to participate this year by sponsoring a lady and to honor her for her contributions to the community.

Qualifications include: at least 60 years of age, lived in El Dorado County for at least 10 years and contributed non-career volunteer service to the community.

There is an entry fee of $25 to be enclosed with the sponsor application. The entry fee covers admission to the Rose Ball for the contestant.

There is a permanent trophy given to the winning candidate, as well as a large trophy to the sponsor, to be kept and displayed for one year,

It is a tradition for the sponsoring group to have a reception for its candidate to introduce her to the community.

The El Dorado Rose Ball will be held May 21, at the new American Legion Hall, at
4561 Greenstone Road, Placerville.

The event starts at 6:45 p.m. A light supper will be served. There will be dancing to the Easy Sounds Band. Ticket price is $25 per person. The evening is open to the
public and offers a wonderful time to meet the Roses and Rose candidates.
