PLACERVILLE — Placerville City Council-member Patty Borelli, chair of the El Dorado County Transportation Commission announces today that the commission has selected Sharon Scherzinger as its new executive director.
“We are especially excited that Sharon has been with the California Department of Transportation, which giver her great knowledge about the process for local agencies to work successfully with the state to obtain funding for local roads and the state highway system,” Borelli said.
Scherzinger, 51, has 23 years of transportation planning experience. She was head pd the California Department of Transportation’s Planning and Mass Transit divisions. Prior to her work at Caltrans she managed a $2 billion bond for the California Transportation Commission.
Scherzinger has degrees in geography and architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. A resident of El Dorado Hills, she has lived in El Dorado County with her husband and two sons for 22 years.
“I am honored to be selected as the new executive director,” Scherzinger said. “I look forward to working with the commission to plan and implement the transportation program for the benefit of the residents, businesses and visitors of El Dorado County.”
Scherzinger will replace Kathryn Mathews, who is retiring after 30 years of public service and 10 years as executive director of the commission.
