Trips take seniors horse racing, whale watching and more

Jan. 14: The El Dorado County Senior Activities Program announces Esquire Imax Theatre. Travel by charted motorcoach to downtown Sacramento enjoy a cold winter’s day in the comfort of the IMAX Theatre. First showing is the “Flight of the Butterflies in 3D,” a natural history epic. It took almost 40 years to discover the butterflies secret hideaway and prove the most incredible migration on Earth. Second show is the “Last Reef 3D; Cities Beneath the Sea,” an uplifting journey exploring the beauty and mysteries of the worlds’ reef ecosystem. Afterward, enjoy lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory.

Day at the Races
Jan. 30: The El Dorado County Senior Activities Program announces Day at the Races. Experience the thrill of live thoroughbred horse racing while enjoying a leisurely luncheon at the Turf Club. In addition to fine cuisine, the glass enclosed restaurant offers great views of San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island, Golden Gate Bridge and, of course, the beautiful Golden Gate Fields Race Track. Pick the winner and you’ll feel the excitement of cashing in your winning ticket. Trip includes, admission to the reserved seats at Golden Gate Fields, hosted buffet lunch at the Turf Club, racing program, All West transportation and driver gratuity. Cost is $90 per person. Bus will pickup in Placerville and El Dorado Hills.

Death Valley
March 2-6: The El Dorado County Senior Activities Program announces Extremely Beautiful Death Valley. This magnificent trip will include two nights at the Furnace Creek Ranch Resort in Death Valley, one night at the Creekside Inn in Bishop and one night in Bakersfield. Your tour will include a full day of Pink Jeep trekking, dinner in the Oasis Room, barbecue dinner “Under the Stars,” visit to the Manzanar Historical Site, visit Erick Schat’s Bakery in Bishop and so much more. Cost is $1,150 per person double occupancy, $1,400 single.

Monterey, Movies, Whale Watching and More
April 7-9: The El Dorado County Senior Activities Program announces Monterey, Movies and More. Travel by chartered motorcoach on this coastal getaway. Visit the world acclaimed Monterey Bay Aquarium, stay overnight in a boutique hotel with your own marble fireplace, explore Cannery Row and Fisherman’s Wharf. Dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Take the movie tour and see the scenic beauty of the Monterey Peninsula through the eyes of Hollywood. Wind the streets of Pacific Grove, Carmel and have lunch at Pebble Beach! For those of you who want to enjoy the whale watching season, we will be offering a whale watching excursion (in lieu of the aquarium) for a minimal extra cost. On your travels home travel to Salinas, the home of the Wild Things Animal Ranch. Tickets, most meals, accommodations, luggage handling and driver with all gratuities included. Cost is $578 per person double occupancy, $743 single.
