Jack Borba launched Straight Line Roofing & Construction in 1999 with a roofing emphasis, working as a subcontractor throughout the region.
When the housing industry tanked, his emphasis shifted from new roofs to repairs and renovations. Many of the general contractors he used to work for became employees.
These days, repeat and referral business makes up 85 percent of the company’s work, and is an indication of customer satisfaction, said Borba. Another is their 5,000-plus references.
Borba shortened the name to Straight Line Construction, but half the work remains roofing. The other half is exterior construction, siding, painting and windows — all fully licensed.
Very little work is farmed out to subcontractors, which means Straight Line crews can repair that damaged truss as part of the roof replacement, and not just replace, but enlarge those windows.
