Best Manicure: Sue Calicchia

“When you do nails for 30 years, you know your clients’ kids and grandkids,” said Sue Calicchia.

Calicchia, formerly Sue McConnell, is a recent newlywed who established Nails by Sue when she moved to El Dorado Hills in the late 1980s.

“I’m an old dog but I’m still learning new tricks,” she said, like adding pieces of mylar and glitter encased in clear to give nails a 3D look.

Still, pedicures are “her specialty” and she only uses quality products while clients relax in heated massage chairs. “I’m not a discount nail place, but you get my education and experience and I don’t skimp on products … that sets me apart from fast food nail places.”

Sue never tires of her job. “Who else gets to sit and chat with their girlfriends as often as I do?” she asked. The one hour they’re with her is their time to relax, though, and she is always punctual.

Sue works at Reflection Salon & Spa located at 24996 Blue Ravine Road in Folsom. For more information call (916) 276-6728 or e-mail [email protected].
