Sacramento’s Boca Jrs 95 girls soccer team placed first in the Davis Legacy Winter College Showcase earlier this month.

The team is comprised of girls from  Sacramento, El Dorado and Placer counties and has been climbing in ranks this season. The girls are currently 10th of 122 U16 teams listed in Northern California on the GotSoccer Ranking system.

More than 40 colleges were in attendance to watch the players in the showcase. Boca’s defense consisting of goalkeeper Dominique Fernandez and the defensive lineup — twins Melissa and Elena Hanson, Brittany Gisin, Savannah Droke and Emily Hansen — shut out the competition not allowing a goal against them. Boca’s offense played equally strong by outscoring every other team with seven goals in the Premier bracket.

Leading goals was Selena Brewer with three, then Sheridan Fox with one goal and two assists, followed by one goal each by Marian Haarmeyer, Elizabeth Hutchinson, and Jenna Mark, including one assist from Elena Hanson. The final score had Boca tied with Davis Legacy in points. It would be goal differentials that put Boca on top.

Game 1 against Cal Blues Blue Shock saw the most goals with a 5-0 win. Game 2 against Sacramento United Extreme had the Boca girls finishing with a 2-0 victory. Game 3 ended in a 0-0 tie.

The girls are preparing for their next showcase — the SC del Sol President’s Day Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., Feb. 17-20 — by competing in NorCal’s prestigious Regional Academy League winter season and the Nor Cal State Cup. The girls are also preparing for their high school seasons.
