Devils leave Gators in their wake
The El Dorado Hills Tasmanian Devils swim team defeated the Granite Bay Gators, 540-248 June 9 at the El Dorado Hills Community Services District pool.
“Our 9 – 10 boys medley relay, consisting of Raghubir Chimni, Curtis Seabourne, JT Ross, and Luke Mulert, had a great finish coming in just 0.13 milliseconds ahead of Granite Bay to take first, it was a great race!” Taz head coach Jason Brown said.
“Allison Prior, 13, had a great swim in her 50-yard backstroke swimming a 30.92 and closing in on Megan Barnetts’ 14-year-old record of a 30.27 set in 1998,” he continued. “In event 68, 11-12 girls butterfly we had some friendly competition amongst teammates — Payton Valencia out-touched teammate Elena Denner by .04 seconds; both athletes improved their times and during a great race.
“We had a great come from behind victory in our girls 4 x 50 freestyle relay,” Brown added. “The relay consisting of Jackie Sterdt, Jenna Michael, Gabby Costamagna and Morgan Jones were about a second behind going into the last leg of the relay. Morgan, agreeing that these are these are moments an anchor of the relay lives for, left the blocks around a second behind and caught Granite Bay’s last swimmer, out touching her for the 1st place finish.”
