Oak Ridge High School senior Jordan Gotro’s hard work in school and dedication to sports has caught the attention of Division 1 universities all over the country.
Jordan recently took his first of five recruiting trips. When done, he’ll have visited the University of Tennessee, University of Florida, Louisiana State University, University of South Carolina and University of Denver. He turned down several other schools due to the NCAA restriction that limits athletes to five recruiting trips.
Jordan started his journey in El Dorado Hills, attending Lake Forest Elementary, Marina Middle School and now Oak Ridge. He has maintained a 3.5 GPA while committed to athletics.
Jordan has been involved with competitive gymnastics since he was 5 years old, which he said has given him the discipline and strength to be a successful young man. He gained recognition as a nationally ranked gymnast when he was 13 and has now taken his talent to the diving board.
Jordan has been diving now for more than two years with Oak Ridge’s Dive Team and the Dos Rios Dive Club under coach Mike Brown. His progression in diving has been nothing less than awesome. He was named All American in diving for the 2012 high school dive season and recently took second place in platform at Nationals in North Carolina.
With Jordan’s interest in Emergency Medicine, he has focused on the top five Division 1 diving schools that offer pre-med. All those years of practice — four hours a day, six days a week, rain or shine — have paid off.
