Volleyball coach named Mrs. California Galaxy
Melanie DeMure, 42, of El Dorado Hills, was crowned Mrs. California Galaxy last month and will go on to compete for the title of Mrs. Galaxy 2014 during the final competition in Orlando, Fla. July 30 through Aug. 4, 2013.
DeMure is the mother of four children ages 15 years to 15 months. She is spokesperson for youthachievingexcellence.com; owner and president of Gold Cal Jrs VBC and varsity coach for the Oak Ridge High School boys volleyball team. DeMure is also an active volunteer for her children’s schools and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). She is a 22-year volunteer and advocate for youth, with her platform, “Volunteer … Change a Child’s Life” during her reign as Mrs. California Galaxy.
“What represents me best as Mrs. Galaxy International and as a passionate volunteer for the PTA,” DeMure said, is a quote from John C. Maxwell’s “Success One Day at a Time” where he states, “Think of the pursuit of your dream as being like a major athletic event. Train for it. As you prepare, exercise you will get stronger mentally, emotionally and physically. To successfully achieve your dream, you need to keep improving … Keep your body fit; keep your heart flexible; keep your mind open.”
