Elite Taekwondo students add nine more medals

Elite Taekwondo USA took competitors to the 2011 No. Cal State Championships held at UC Davis. This is the final qualifier on the road to the National Competition and Junior Olympics as well as team USA tryouts. Athletes competed in sparring, poomsae and sports poomsae.

The Elite team members have worked hard and it showed as nine competitors brought home medals.

Connor Adams — Black Belt, 12, won bronze in sports poomsae 12-13 black belt Poomsae division.

Chanelle Reynolds — Blue Belt, 17, won gold in poomsae in the 14-17 division and gold in jr. sparring 16-17 Welter weight division.

Samuel Estolas — Black Belt, 11, won gold in poomsae 10-11 black belt division and won bronze in sparring.

Allison Prior — Black Belt, 12, won silver in 12-13 black belt sports poomsae division.

Justin Jones — Green Belt, 6, won gold in sparring 6-7 year old division.

Nicholas Tjaden — Yellow Belt,6, won bronze in poomsae.

Mauricio Haper — Black Belt, won bronze in 18-32 year old world-class sparring division.

Mari Batilando — Black Belt, won gold in 18-32 year old world-class sparring division.

Miguel Batilando — Red Belt, won gold in 12-13 year old sparring division.

All competitors who qualified will go on to compete at the USAT National and Jr Olympics in San Jose. USA Taekwondo conducted its 2011 Junior Olympic Championship, U.S. National Championship and U.S. National Poomsae Team Trials events June 28 through July 3. More than 3,000 athletes ages 6-72, aided by 700-plus coaches, will compete during the week.
