JV water polo team tops in Turlock

Led by Coach Patrick Muniz, the Oak Ridge JV boys’ water polo team returned home as tournament champions after winning all four games at the Turlock Invitational Tournament, Oct. 4-5.

In the first game against Golden Valley, Matthew Fehr helped the team with three steals. Jack Davidson and William Kirk had two each, and Kevin Taylor and Nick Thompson had one each. Thompson, Jason Phen and Cole Tilley helped with assists. Goals were score by Davidson, Thompson, Kirk, Kevin Taylor and Robby Otto, with two each. Jake Bowers scored one more. Oak Ridge won 11-7.

In the second game against Modesto, Taylor had three steals, while Guarav Addagatia, Davidson, Thompson, Kirk, Max Dillard and  Tilley each got one. Taylor, Thompson and Bowers also helped with assists. Davidson and Kirk scored three goals each, and Addagatia, Thompson and Taylor each scored two. Bowers, Dillard and Ben Gross helped by scoring one each. Oak Ridge won 15-4.

In the third game against Pittman, Thompson, Otto and Tilley had three steals each and Jason Phen had two. There were two assists by Phen and one by Davidson, who led the team with five goals. Kirk scored three goals, Thompson scored two and Tilley scored one. With seven saves, JV goalie Dillard had an incredible game. Oak Ridge won 13-7.

In the last game against Merced, Oak Ridge dominated again with steals by Addagatia, Davidson, Thompson, Phen, Bowers, Jared Gotro, Otto, and Tilley. Two assists were made by Phen and one by Taylor. Four of the Oak Ridge goals were scored by Davidson, three by Kirk, two by Thompson and one each by Taylor, Bowers and Gotro. The final winning score for the championship was 14-7.
