Lacrosse: Oak Ridge girls blast Palo Alto

By Jackson Long

The Lady Trojans decimated their visitors from Palo Alto on the lacrosse field Friday night, scoring nonstop en route to an 18-3 victory.

Oak Ridge sprung into offensive attack-mode and didn’t stop. A steal and score from Kayla Galet followed by three more goals gave the Trojans an early 4-0 lead before the visiting team could get on the board.

The most impressive score of the game was the final of the first half, as Morgan Janice connected from long distance to give Troy the 6-2 halftime advantage.

Three goals in the first three minutes of the second half from Bridget Malone, Arielle Spring and Kacie Weidert was a blow to Palo Alto. Before the final horn had sounded, Oak Ridge outscored Palo Alto 9-1 for the resounding triumph.

Weidert was the lone Trojan to net three goals. Malone, Jessica Hanson, Morgan Janice, Samantha Donaghey, Kayla Galet and Sara Cody each scored twice while Madisyn Hallare and Alia Crook also scored.

The win moved OR to 4-1 in early season play and was a nice rebound from a 10-point loss last week.

“I was most pleased about our passing and catching – the fundamentals,” head coach Eldore Wood said. “Tonight they played like the team I know they can be.”
