El Dorado Hills Club wrestlers Mikey, Bobby and Ricky Mello recently tested themselves against some of the best competition in the country

June 10-26, they competed at Western Regionals in Pocatello, Idaho. Ricky wrestled in an impressive 25 matches while brothers Mikey and Bobby had 15 matches each. All three wrestlers qualified for national tournaments.

Mikey, competing in the Schoolboy division (middle school), went on to compete at Orem, Utah, in the USA Schoolboy National tournament. While there he competed in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman styles and finished 7th and 8th, respectively, to earn All-American status in both styles. He is El Dorado Hills’ first back-to-back Greco All-American as he finished top eight last year as well. Mikey will compete as a freshman at Oak Ridge High School in the fall. Club coaches anticipate an outstanding high school wrestling career from him.

Ricky and Bobby, who will be sophomores at Oak Ridge, have qualified to represent Team California at USA Cadet Nationals in Fargo, ND, at the end of summer.

The El Dorado Hills Wrestling Club is open to receive membership applications for Kindergarteners through eighth graders for the upcoming fall season. For information contact Coach West by e-mail at [email protected] or visit EDHwrestling.com.
