Oak Ridge athletes crazy about egg nog
CHUGGA-LUGGA-EGG NOG! — Five Oak Ridge High School track athletes and one graduate participated in what some might consider the area’s least appetizing athletic event — the annual Egg Nog Mile. Runners completed four laps around the track, chugging 12 ounces of egg nog before each time around. Runners were required to keep it all down for the duration of the race — vomiting leads to disqualification. Pictured from left to right are Trojans LeeAnn Hold, Kaileen Palmero, Holli Arrieta, Samantha Ralstin, 2010 Oak Ridge grad Amjed Aboukhadijeh and Dusty Armstrong. Aboukhadijeh, currently attending UCLA, finished fourth overall with a time of 5:26 while Oak Ridge sophomore Armstrong placed 28th overall with a time of 7:28. Hold placed 33rd with a time of 8:12 and Palmero finished 38th with a time of 8:48.
