OR track stars bring home medals
The Oak Ridge Track & Field teams had some good performances at the 73rd Annual Le Febvre Relays at Placer High School on March 19.
The meet started off with cloudy skies and cool temperatures but took a turn for the worst around 11:30 as steady rain, wind, and a chill set in for the second half of the meet. Oak Ridge started off the meet with five athletes (two varsity girls & three freshmen/sophomore girls) racing in the 3,200 meter race. All five 3,200 meter runners set personal bests. Freshman Reaghan Emrick placed first with a time of 11:53.97 in the varsity girls 3,200 meter race. She received a gold medal. Freshman Ryan Prestegard placed third with a time of 10:39.86 in the freshmen/sophomore boys 3,200 meter race. He received a bronze medal.
The freshmen/sophomore boys 4 x 100 meter relay team (Alton Toh, Matt Monet, Donald Grady, Bryce Williams) and the freshmen/sophomore boys distance medley team (Zach Thornton, Evan Baxter, Jake Zeltner, Dusty Armstrong) placed first, earning gold medals.

Freshmen/sophomore boys sprint medley (100, 100, 200, 400): Alton Toh, Donald Grady, Bryce Williams, Matt Monet — fifth place, 1:51.07
Varsity girls shuttle hurdles: Shannon Trumbull, Lindsay Lee, Maddie Miller, Ashlyn Duran — fourth place, 46.32
Freshmen/sophomore boys 4 x 800 meter relay team: Dusty Armstrong, Jake Zeltner, Ryan Prestegard, Zach Thornton — second place, 9:30.16
Freshmen/sophomore boys distance medley team: 11:34.71

The next meet for the Trojans is the prestigious Stanford Track & Field Invitational on March 25 and 26. Twenty-two Oak Ridge athletes qualified to compete at this very special meet. Collegiate and high school athletes compete at the Stanford Track & Field Invitational. There will also be some Oak Ridge alumni competing at this invitational.
