Senior tennis stars celebrated
Oak Ridge’s tennis team celebrated an early senior day with a 8-1 victory over cross town opponent Folsom High School on Thursday.
Six seniors received balloons, flowers food, drink and posters, as well as acknowledgment of their tennis career efforts, to mark the event.
“With only Sheldon and Pondo to face to finish up league play, it looks likely we will finish up league with identical records to rivals St. Francis,” said Coach Ralph Clark. “Now that we have beaten them in a match, I feel comfortable using the rival term. Both teams will receive a League Champion Banner to mark this accomplishment.
“Our league sends two teams to the playoffs; one receives a higher seeding which carries home match significance,” Clark continued. “Consequently, we will play St. Francis at Broadstone Monday, Oct. 22, to determine this playoff advantage.”
The league singles tournament, hosted by St. Francis at Natomas Racquet Club, will be held on Oct. 23.
