Sophia struts her stuff

Sophia Barden

El Dorado Hills native, Sophia Barden, recently won the National Title in Strut at the 56th annual U.S. National Baton Twirling Championships held July 7-12.

Sophia competed amongst the best 13-year-olds in the nation and captured first place in Strut and placed second in solo, 2-Baton and Artistic Twirl. She also earned a spot on the International Cup Team in all four events which will compete in Abottford, Canada, in August 2015.

Along with her individual events, Sophia is a member of The Revolution Twirl Club team which placed second nationally and will also compete in Canada next year. Sophia, daughter of Craig and Cynthia Barden, had an exceptional year as the California Women’s Solo Grand Champion, Patsy
Hamilton Solo Champion and the Western Regional Woman’s Solo Grand Champion.

Sophia is coached by Kellie Donovan-Perlman of Revolution Twirl Club and Carrie Bergeron of Flip & Twist.
