Sparks sparkle at tourney
ROSEVILLE — The Prospector Club U10 girls’ soccer team, Sparks, placed first at their first tournament of the season — The Junction City Silver Cup.
They won their first game 8-2 against the East Sac Impalas. In game two the girls played a tough match against RCU Freedom and successfully defeated them 2-0. Game three ended in 7-0 victory against Elk Grove Dynamite and advanced them to the championship round against Roseville’s Top Notch.
Despite the late game and the afternoon heat, the girls pressed on. They showed great passing and possession all the way to a 2-1 victory over Top Notch, making them the tournament champions. The Sparks played with enthusiasm and displayed a tremendous amount of teamwork.
Congratulations to the players and their coach Jerry Leath. For more information on Prospector Select Soccer in El Dorado County visit prospector.org.
