Taz swims past Gators

In the first dual meet of the 2012 season, the El Dorado Hills Tasmanian Devils cruised past the College Greens Gators, 564-224, on June 2.

Leading Taz scorers were Patrick Sammon, 8; Jack Davidson, 13; Samantha Sruba, 15; and Josh Verner, 17.

“This year kicked off the 47th year of the SSL (Suburban Swim League). It was only appropriate that the only two teams to spend each and every year in the league opened the season against each other,” said Taz president Brett Jones.

“We have parents on our team that swam for College Greens (my wife, Dave Mehl) that competed against EDH when we were in a five lane pool at Brooks Park,” he continued. “Now our kids swim against the kids of parents they were teammates of. I was very impressed with our relays and our sportsmanship considering this was opening day.”

Granite Bay made their first ever visit to the Taz home pool on Saturday, June 9.
