Thunder rolls into second place
The U11 Thunder Girls team took second place last weekend in the El Dorado Hills Soccerfest.
The girls battle three amazing teams to make it to the championship. The Thunder beat Davis and Eureka on Saturday to put them in a great position going into Sunday’s games. They beat the Eureka Crush 1-0 with Lexi Likins putting in our winning goal in the last five minutes of the game.
With that win, the Thunder advanced to the championship game to play their rivals, the Vacaville Vipors. At the end of the regulation game the score was 0-0. With tough defense by Macey Edwards, Reagan Hunt, center full back Jessica Wedworth and center mid Emily Fagundes the teams went into overtime. In single overtime the Vipors put a goal in to win, 1-0.
It was a tough loss but the girls held their heads up high and were happy to be in the championship game.
