Track athletes set personal records at Bronco Invitational

The Oak Ridge track & field teams brought home a hefty chest full of medals from the Bella Vista Bronco Invitational on April 2. Many athletes set personal records in their events.

The varsity girls placed first with 84 points and the varsity boys tied for third with Lincoln of Stockton with 38 points. The frosh/soph boys placed second with 58 points. Twenty-eight teams competed at this meet. Will Findlay, Jessica Emde, Shannon Trumbull, Dusty Armstrong and Evan Baxter placed first in their events. The top six places in each event received medals.

The athletes who competed in the 4 x 400 meter relays at the end of the meet put in great efforts.

  • Varsity boys 4 x 400 meter athletes: Shay Mueller, Zach Youngberg, James Dutta, Alex FaGalde
  • Varsity girls 4 x 400 meter athletes: Brittany Adams, Cami Crawford, Maxine Goyette, Taylor Ashby
  • Frosh/Soph boys 4 x 400 meter athletes: Carter Howard, Alton Toh, Matt Monet, Bryce Williams

Many of these athletes had already competed in two or three events.

The medal winners are:

Varsity boys

Benji Xie: 4th place 1,600 meter run 4:26.03; 5th place 800 meter run  2:02.82

Clay McNamee: 5th place 3,200 meter run 10:19.93

Zach Youngberg: 5th place 300 meter hurdles 41.58; 6th place 110 meter hurdles 16.17

4 x 100 meter relay: 2nd place 43.64 (Nick Barnett, Will Tostenson, Will Tucker, Dustin Fretwell)

Sam Thomas-Pate: 6th place triple jump 41’3″

Will Findlay: 1st place high jump 6’6″

Matt Redden: 3rd place high jump 6’4″; 5th place discus  131’1″

Varisty girls

Samantha Ralstin: 2nd place 400 meter run 1:00.10

Cami Crawford: 4th place 400 meter run 1:02.29

Maxine Goyette: 2nd place 1,600 meter run 5:13.93; 3rd place 800 meter run 2:23.89

Jackie Mansoor: 2nd place 3,200 meter run 11:36.99; 3rd place 1,600 meter run  5:16.83

Shannon Trumbull: 1st place 100 meter hurdles 15.35; 2nd place 300 meter hurdles 48.80

4 x 100 meter relay: 2nd place  51.30 (Cami Crawford, Shannon Trumbull, Lexi Davenport, Jessica Emde)

4 x 400 meter relay: 2nd place  4:15.97 (Brittany Adams, Cami Crawford, Maxine Goyette, Taylor Ashby)

Jessica Emde: 1st place high jump  5’2″

Frosh/soph boys

Evan Baxter: 1st place 800 meter run 2:10.74

Zach Thornton: 2nd place 1,600 meter run 4:41.56; 6th place 800 meter run  2:13.83

Dusty Armstrong: 1st place 1,600 meter run 4:36.27

Jake Zeltner: 4th place 1,600 meter run 4:45.65

Ryan Prestegard: 4th place 3,200 meter run 10:34.47

Nick Emanuel: 3rd place 110 meter hurdles 16.98

4 x 100 meter relay: 4th place 46.47 (Alton Toh, Matt Monet, Carter Howard, Bryce Williams)

Greg Smolarski: 3rd place pole vault 8’0″

Sam Sedgewick: 4th place pole vault 8’0″

Anthony Maimone: 6th place pole vault 8’0″

Oak Ridge will have 16 athletes competing at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational April 8-9. Athletes throughout the nation will be competing at the Arcadia Invitational. The next league meet is scheduled for April 13 at Ponderosa High School. Oak Ridge will compete against Ponderosa, Jesuit and St. Francis at the April 13 meet, which starts at 3:30 p.m.
