Delta River League Tournament: Oak Ridge took top honors at an 18-hole league meet at Empire Ranch in Folsom with a team score of 382, while Ponderosa was third at 419. Corey Pereira carded a 69 for Ponderosa.
Oak Ridge 5, Del Campo 9 — The Trojans opened the season on the road with Wednesday’s nonleague loss.
“We just didn’t play well in most aspects of the game. Typical start for us as we just seem to be slow out of the gate,” Oak Ridge coach Todd Melton said. “This probably could have been the best thing for us as it humbles all the expectations and shows we have got work to do.”
It was a tough outing for pitcher Alex Fitchett who did not have his best stuff which was compounded by errors and walks. The Cougars scored four runs in the 1st inning, two in the 2nd and one in the 3rd before the Trojans settled down. Oak Ridge scored three in the 5th and two in the 7th on a Zach Mahon 2- run HR.
Oak Ridge 12, Rosemont 2 — The Trojans won their home opener Friday behind Austin Root’s four-hitter. Root, making his varsity debut, struck out five and walked none. Alex Fitchett’s two-run triple staked Oak Ridge to a 2-0 first-inning lead and after a single run in the third, Troy scored five in the fifth and four in the six to end the game under the mercy rule. Cody Morris went 3-for-4 and Mason Watkins, Lance Berringer and Cody Uharriet each supplied two hits.
Oak Ridge 3, Christian Brothers 9 — In Tuesday’s non-league game in El Dorado Hills, the Lady Trojans (0-3) were behind 4-1 after the first inning before the Lady Falcons scored a run in the second inning and four in the fourth to seal the victory. Christian Brothers’ pitcher Haley Snyder pitched a no-hitter against Oak Ridge, fanning 17 of 21 batters. The Falcons had four hits but took advantage of six Oak Ridge errors. Renee Bardini, Lauren Bertoy and Jade Matsumoto scored for the Lady Trojans.

Oak Ridge 8, Vintage 10 — Bertoy was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, Jacki Schmaeling tripled and drove in two runs, and Matsumoto doubles and had three RBIs.
