Oak Ridge High’s tough preseason tennis matchups could serve it well down the road. Should the Lady Trojans return to the playoffs, knowing they’ve defeated last season’s section champ and this year’s favorite may be the difference.

So far, Oak Ridge owns two 5-4 wins over Rocklin and one over Davis by the same score. The girls also won a close one over the Blue Devils at the Fresno/Clovis Tournament. Last year, Davis showed Troy the door after ousting the El Dorado Hills squad 3-6 in the semis.

“We’ve played some of best teams around and if we ever find a way for everyone to play to their abilities we have a championship team,” Trojan coach Ralph Clark said.

Oak Ridge went 4-1 at the tournament, led by Madeline Almeida who went 5-0. Other key Trojan upperclassmen on the singles ladder are team captain Rachel Linrach, Teja Chalamcherla, Hannah Crookham and Miranda Miller.
