Trojan tennis reaches NorCals
FAIR OAKS —The Oak Ridge Lady Trojans bounced back from a tough loss Sac-Joaquin Section Division I section finals loss to beat Bella Vista 8-1 Friday, securing the second spot from the section at this week’s NorCal championships at the Natomas Racquet Club.
It’s the second time in school history the girls tennis team goes to NorCals. The first was in 2006, the year Troy captured their only section title.
“We’ve established ourselves as one of the top teams in the area and we will see some pretty high level tennis,” Oak Ridge coach Ralph Clark said. “It was a pretty intense week and really represents a year’s worth of work by the girls. I couldn’t be more proud of them.
“Our girls came out ready to play and that’s all you can hope for. Four intense playoff matches in five days … I know I’m worn out and I didn’t even play,” Clark added.
Most of the matches were close at the start but started turning Oak Ridge’s way. The Trojans swept singles and won 2-of-3 doubles.
The girls next hit the court this Friday.
