Trojan track shines in Elk Grove

ELK GROVE — The Oak Ridge High boys and girls track and field teams kicked off their seasons Saturday at the Capital Classic Relays. Despite the cool windy conditions, many Trojan athletes registered excellent performances against the 18 other schools that competed at the meet. Oak Ridge had several medal winners.

The next meet for Troy is Saturday at the Sac State High School Classic held at Sacramento State University. This is a varsity only meet.

Listed are the top three individuals in each event. The top three relay teams were given medals.

Varsity girls —  4 x 800m Relay: 1- Sabrina Andrus, Ellie Velez, Rachel Peterson, Mikayla Mefford, 10:22.26;  Medley Relay: 1-Sabrina Andrus, Ellie Velez, Rachel Peterson, Mikayla Mefford, 13:16.97.

Varsity boys — 4 x 800m Relay: 1-Dusty Armstrong, Evan Baxter, Sean McHone, Jake Zeltner,  8:43.98. Medley Relay: 3-Dusty Armstrong, Sean McHone, Evan Baxter, Matt Monet, 11:16.86.

Frosh/soph boys — 100m: 1-Dominick Worsham, 11.63, 2-Bryce Williams, 11.70; 200m: 2-Jean Yves Diei, 24.39; 400m: 1-Jacob Sipes, 55.34; 110mh: 1-Cody Ellis, 17.24; Sprint Medley Relay: 2-Brent Carter, Bryce Williams, Griffin Prather, Dominick Worsham, 1:44.68; Long Jump: 3-Will Vaughn, 17-6.5; 4 x 400m Relay: 2-Brent Carter, Jean Yves Diei, Griffin Prather, Jacob Sipes, 3:46.70; 4 x 800m Relay: 3- Jordan Hordesky, JT Janecek, Alex Merry, Colin Pilcher, 9:29.42;  4 x 100m Relay: 1-Griffin Prather, Jacob Sipes, Bryce Williams, Dominick Worsham, 46.34; Pole Vault: 1-Greg Smolarski, 11-0, 2- Sam Sedgwick, 9-6.

Frosh/soph girls  — 4 x 100m Relay: 3-Madi Miller, Amber Hus, Kathryn Sanders, Skylar Caesar, 58.75;  4 x 800m Relay: 2-Sami Kilcollins, Mindy Ong, Karina Kauffman, Maddie DeZordo, 11:30.03;  Sprint Medley: 2-Madi Miller, Amber Hus, Kathryn Sanders, Skylar Caesar,  2:11.15;  Shot Put: 3-Atiah Brinson, 27-5; Distance Medley: 2-Mindy Ong, Alison Bamford, Maddie DeZordo, Karina Kauffman, 14:36.31.
