Oak Ridge High School’s cross country teams gave incredible performances during Saturday’s Sac-Joaquin Sub-section meet at Angel’s Camp, with all teams finishing in either first or second places.

The frosh/soph girls team placed first in their Division I race with a very low score of 23 points. The sophomore boys team placed second with 48 points. The varsity girls team placed second with 61 points. The varsity boys team placed second with 75 points.

The frosh/soph girls started off the meet for the Trojans, racing extremely well and placing five runners in the top 11 — Mindy Ong, Rachel Peterson, Mikayla Mefford, Mia Brower, and Sami Kilcollins.

The sophomore boys also raced very well. They grouped up in the front pack and kept a nice steady pace throughout the hilly two mile course at the Frogtown fairgrounds. The top five scorers for the sophomore boys team were Evan Baxter, Jake Zeltner, Zach Thornton, Ryan Prestegard and JT Janecek.

The varsity girls did a fabulous job racing together throughout the course. Six varsity girls placed in the top 23. All six of these girls received medals. Samantha Ralstin and Reaghan Emrick raced together and placed eighth and 10th, respectively. A pack of four Lady Trojans (Brittney Putman, Maxine Goyette, Holli Arrieta, and Jackie Mansoor) raced together in a very controlled fashion.

The varsity boys team were the last team to compete for the Trojans at the subsection meet. They finished off the meet on a high note. The five-man team (Benji Xie, Brandon Williams, Jeroen Keukenkamp, Dusty Armstrong and Clay McNamee) raced very well together. Theathletes held a nice steady pace throughout the course which allowed them to finish together in places 15 through 19. They earned medals for their efforts. Davis High School placed first in the race. The Trojans are looking forward to competing against Davis and all the other qualifying teams at the section meet.
