Trojans edge Marauders in season finale

On Friday, the Oak Ridge High boys lacrosse team knocked off the visiting Jesuit Marauders, 12-11.

Josh Wellman scored the Trojans’ first two goals, and Cayd Rich and Gage Webb added goals as Oak Ridge led 4-2 after the firstquarter. Chase Webb and Tanner Rosenbaum scored in the second and the Trojans led 6-5 at half.

At halftime the Trojans honored their 10 seniors on Senior Night: Rich, Cody Place, Chase Webb, Garrett Amidon, Jordan Rubenstein, Jericho Hallare, Will Burke, Nick Gordon, Johnny Ploke, and Kyle Bertotti. In the third, Wellman, Place, and Rich all scored, and Rosenbaum scored twice in the fourth followed by the deciding goal by Place.

Oak Ridge (11-5, 8-4 conference) now finishes the season in third place in league, and must wait until the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section 16-team playoff bracket is announced on Friday, May 10.

“This win helps. We’re in third place in our league and we’ll see what happens. I think we deserve (to make playoffs),” Oak Ridge coach Brad Speno said.
