Making us proud
2009 Oak Ridge graduate Kristina Williams, girls basketball, has been named Female Athlete of the Year at Lewis and Clark. This makes two years in a row. Williams helped the Pioneers to an overall record of 25-4 and into the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, leading the team in scoring with an average of 15.2 points per game.
Another former Lady Trojan has excelled away from home in being named her school’s Freshman Athlete of the Year. Cami Crawford will receive her award next weekend from New York University where she led the team in goals (9), game-winning goals (4) and helped the squad win a division championship (scored two goals) and set a school record for wins (14). Her goals and point totals (20) were the third-most by a freshman in school history. Crawford received Honorable Mention All-University Association, becoming the first freshman to earn the accolade since 2008.
Oak Ridge pitching alum Chris Muse-Fisher won his first college start for UC Berkeley, throwing five and a third innings in a 4-0 victory over Santa Clara. Muse-Fisher’s teammates include former Trojan Kyle Porter and ex Ponderosa Bruin Matt Evanoff.
It was a Shingle Springs connection at a recent St. Mary’s baseball game. Jordan Mills (Oak Ridge, Shingle Springs) threw five innings of three-hit relief to get the victory in a 2-1 Gaels’ win over UC Santa Barbara. Calling pitches was Riley Heinzer (Ponderosa, Shingle Springs).
