Trojans take third in volleyball tourney

The Oak Ridge boys varsity volleyball team came home from the LaJolla Tournament with the bronze.

The Trojans aced and set their way to third place, out of 48 teams. Trojan Jonathan Tuttle and Storm VanSoldt received additional honors as they were named to the all tournament team. Tuttle had 62 kills, nine aces, 42 digs and 11 blocks in the seven games played. VanSoldt racked up 10 blocks.

The tournament began March 25 with a victory over Henry, 25-18 and 25-16. The Trojans then went on to beat Santa Fe Christian, 25-18 and 25-13, and LaJolla High School, 25-13 and 25-20. On March 26 the competition heated up with victories against Desert Vista, 25-23 and 25-17 and Trabuco Hills, 25-19, 20-25 (loss) and 15-12. A loss against Buchanan, 25-27 and 25-19, put them in the game for third place against Westview. The Wolverines fell to the Trojans in thee games.

Other Trojans state leaders were Jack Hoisington with 41 kills and three aces; Nate Lambert with 46 digs; Connor Dunham with 119 assists and Tim Spykerman with 14 blocks.
