It was a good two days of competition for the Oak Ridge track and field athletes at the Masters trials on May 29 and the Masters finals on May 30 at Elk Grove High School.
Three Oak Ridge athletes obtained personal bests at the Masters trials on May 29. Junior Brandon Jetter set a school record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.09. The previous record was 11.13 set by S. Hill in 1988. Junior Kate Sanders raced very well in the 100 meter high hurdles and set a personal record with a time of 16.04. Kate’s time is the fourth fastest all-time at Oak Ridge. Senior Ashley Dean set a personal record in the pole vault with a jump of 10 feet, 1 inch. Ashley’s mark is the fourth best all-time at Oak Ridge. Senior Rachel Peterson raced in her last high school 3200 meter race at Friday’s finals.
