Trojans tennis takes down Pleasant Grove

After a spotty preseason Oak Ridge’s tennis team opened league against Pleasant Grove last Tuesday. PG was the third place team in the league last year.

The Trojans had some girls down with flu and injuries but players on the court stepped up and got an 8-1 win.

“Our top six singles players have been playing pretty well all season led by team co-captain Tori Trylovich,” said coach Ralph Clark. “We have many experienced players in the doubles section of the ladder.  I think it’s going to be a doubles by committee situation this year. Junior Heather Dunham (new to the team) got her first start as a Lady Trojan and helped secure a great win at No.1 doubles with co-captain Lauren Roppolo.”

Match scores (OR players first): Tori Trylovich vs Anna Kilgrow, 6-0, 6-1; Rachael Librach vs Hindra Scheer, 6-3, 6-1; Teja Chalmcherla vs Jacqalunn Goetz, 6-1, 6-0; Miranda Miller vs Meaghan Sterh, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6; Gabby Zeagler vs Carinn Candelaria, 6-4, 6-4; Emily Abraham vs Kaitlyn Wagner, 0-6, 1-6; Heather Dunham/Lauren Roppolo vs Adetogun/Le, 6-2, 6-4; Ashlee Gonzales/Sophie Geyer vs Ayalia/Flores, 6-2, 6-3; and Sydney Newman/Megan Engle vs Sandhu/To, 6-4, 6-3.
